Priorities

Our Advocacy in Action

A core part of the NMRVTA’s mission is to be the leading voice for veterinary technicians in New Mexico. We actively work with the state legislature, the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine, and other stakeholders to advance and protect our profession.

Our priorities are focused on creating a stronger, safer, and more respected professional environment for every RVT, paraprofessional, and student in the state.

Our Key Initiatives

Title Protection & Scope of Practice

We are leading the charge to amend the New Mexico Veterinary Practice Act to include official title protection for RVTs and a clear scope of practice. This is crucial for elevating our profession, ensuring patient safety, and empowering veterinary teams across New Mexico.
